2010 Scion xB Air Bag Control Module Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Air Bag Control Module on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The tubing for the negative battery terminal cable needs to be disconnected then the system needs to wait for 90 seconds to avoid deploying the Air Bag before servicing the Air Bag Control Module. After taking out the shift lever knob sub-assembly for the Manual Transaxle users must move on to remove the instrument cluster finish center lower panel combined with the front No. 2 console box insert and front No. 1 console box insert. The next step requires removal of the instrument panel finish lower panel. The Automatic Transaxle requires transmission control cable assembly removal together with the shift lever assembly while the Manual Transaxle needs the same assembly removal steps. The last step includes the removal of the center Air Bag sensor assembly while ensuring a complete connection break with the negative battery terminal prevents unnecessary Air Bag activation. You can detach the connector holder through lever pull down while you remove the 3 bolts for sensor extraction.
