2008 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Brake Proportioning Valve on 2008 Toyota Yaris?
A: Start the proportioning valve installation by attaching it to the bracket through two nuts that need torquing to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The 2 bolts should be installed sequentially onto the proportioning valve bracket before torquing them to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). Through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100, antorque of either 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) with the tool or 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) without it must be applied to connect the 5 brake tubes to the proportioning valve. A torque wrench should have a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 inches) to achieve accurate readings since the torque measurement is most effective when the tool matches the wrench position. Inspect the proportioning valve for leakage after installing four brake tubes; follow with reservoir fluid filling and bleeding of the master cylinder and brake line. Complete the process by checking the fluid level and inspecting for fluid leaks.
