2009 Toyota Yaris Brake Proportioning Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the Brake Proportioning Valve on 2009 Toyota Yaris?
A: First secure the proportioning valve onto its bracket by applying two nuts that need to be tightened at 5.4 Nm torque value (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). First position two bolts onto the proportioning valve bracket sequentially and then tighten them to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). The installation of five brake tubes to the proportioning valve requires a union nut wrench for application of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) torque or 14 Nm (144 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) when the wrench is in use. A torque wrench with a 300 mm (11.8 in.) fulcrum along with a 22 mm (0.866 in.) union nut wrench should be used to apply torque values while keeping the wrenches in parallel position. The installation process should be followed by filling the reservoir with brake fluid and then completing master cylinder bleeding and brake line bleeding before checking the reservoir fluid level and examining the system for any signs of leakage.
