2009 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Vacuum Brake Booster on 2009 Toyota Yaris?
A: Begin the process by depressing the brake pedal several times to break the vacuum then proceed with detaching the brake master cylinder from the brake booster. The first step involves disconnecting the negative battery cable when draining brake fluid while cleaning all touched painted surfaces with water. When working on Hatchback versions start by taking off the front wiper arm head cap followed by removing the left and right front wiper arm assemblies with their blades and the hood to cowl top seal and cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and front wiper motor and link. Sedan models require the same procedure for front wiper arm head cap together with left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies, cowl side ventilator sub-assemblies, cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and front wiper motor and link removal. The cowl to register duct sub-assembly gets removed initially for Hatchback while the Sedan requires the removal of its front air shutter seal afterwards. Following this step both models need their outer cowl top panels detached. The mechanic needs to eliminate the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly with the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly from Hatchback and Sedan models. First, get rid of the battery along with the battery tray while proceeding to remove the battery carrier. Users need to disconnect the brake actuator for both models while also removing the clutch reservoir tube for manual transaxle after which users must take off the brake master cylinder sub-assembly both with and without ABS. To disconnect the brake front tube from ABS use a union nut wrench that separates the brake tube from the brake tube No. 1 way and brake tube assembly from the proportioning valve. To remove the brake booster performers these steps: slide the clip beyond the vacuum hose from the check valve then remove four nuts and gasket while loosening the push rod lock nut and removing the push rod clevis until finally taking away the brake vacuum check valve assembly and its grommet from the brake booster.
