2010 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the vacuum brake booster on 2010 Toyota Yaris?
A: The first step to remove a vacuum brake booster requires depressing the brake pedal until the vacuum releases followed by disconnecting the brake master cylinder from the brake booster. Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by draining the brake fluid while washing off the paint with any fluid contact. Start by taking away the front wiper arm head cap for hatchback models followed by left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies and the hood to cowl top seal and cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and the front wiper motor and link. Users must replicate the same tasks for sedan vehicles as outlined in the documentation. The installation order consists of first removing the cowl to register duct sub-assembly from hatchback vehicles followed by the sedan models receiving the front air shutter seal then finally both vehicles receiving the outer cowl top panel replacement. You need to remove instrument panel under cover sub-assembly along with lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly from both sedan and hatchback models. First remove the battery and its tray followed by pulling out the battery carrier from the vehicle. Remove the brake actuator from both models but keep track of the different configurations between systems with and systems without VSC active. Start the service by disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube for manual transaxle systems and by removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly according to ABS and VSC availability. Among the tasks are separating the brake master cylinder push rod clevis followed by disconnecting the front brake tubes through a union nut wrench to release tubes from channels at brake tube No. 1 and the proportioning valve. The brake booster removal process begins when you unlatch the clip to separate the vacuum hose from the check valve followed by four nut removal and gasket discard until the push rod lock nut and its clevis can be taken off. The final task in the process includes removing both the brake vacuum check valve assembly together with its grommet from the brake booster.
