2007 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake proportioning valve on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: A service and repair of the brake proportioning valve requires the brake fluid drainage first to minimize fluid contamination of painted surfaces. Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 helps disconnect the proportioning valve from its 5 brake tubes whereupon the 2 bracket securing bolts must be removed before unfastening the 2 valve-bracket nuts to complete the separation. The brake proportioning valve installation process requires users to join the valve to its bracket by screwing in two nuts before reaching a torques level of 5.4 N m (55 kgf cm, 48 in. lbf). The installation process requires fitting the two bracket bolts in their designated order followed by torquing them to 19 N m (194 kgf cm, 14 ft. lbf). Reconnect the 5 brake tubes to the proportioning valve through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 by applying a torsion of 15 N m (155 kgf cm, 11 ft. lbf) without the tool or 14 N m (143 kgf cm, 10 ft. lbf) with it ensuring precision with a torque wrench that features a 300 mm (11.81 in.) fulcrum. Complete installation by adding brake fluid to the reservoir followed by bleeding both master cylinder and brake line ensuring the reservoir shows proper fluid level before checking for fluid leakage from the brake system.
