2007 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the brake master cylinder on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: Before performing brake master cylinder installation the procedure requires a brake fluid drain which demands cleaning of any fluid that touches painted surfaces. Start by removing the battery components which include the battery coupled with its tray and carrier. Sliding the clip then pulling off the clutch reservoir tube will complete the disconnect process. It is essential to depress the brake pedal several times before removing the brake master cylinder. This procedure evacuates vacuum pressure from the brake booster and then disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector. Users should apply Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to disconnect three brake tubes from brake tube way and two brake tubes from brake master cylinder on vehicles without ABS. Vehicles with ABS can be detached from the brake master cylinder by removing its two retaining nuts. The braking process requires removing both the O-ring from the brake master cylinder in the two specified scenarios. The brake booster push rod must be examined and tuned by setting Special Service Tool on the master cylinder before lowering the rod until it barely touches the piston to measure clearance using chalk. The tool should be length-adjusted using Special Service Tool: 09737-00020 with a 7 mm socket driver before double-checking the clearance. The brake master cylinder operation requires installation of a new O-ring before attaching two nuts for ABS vehicles while torquing them to 13 N m (127 kgf cm, 9 ft. lbf). The brake master cylinder installation for vehicles without ABS should include torquing the two nuts up to 13 N m (127 kgf cm, 9 ft. lbf) along with installation of the brake tube way and its two nuts following a 13 N m (127 kgf cm, 9 ft. lbf) torque. Install and tighten the two brake tubes onto the brake master cylinder with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 according to torque values of 15 N m (155 kgf cm, 11 ft. lbf) without the tool or 14 N m (143 kgf cm, 10 ft. lbf) with it. The installation process for three brake tubes on brake tube ways should follow the same torque requirements when using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100. The brake fluid level warning switch connector needs to be joined before reconnecting the clutch reservoir tube with its clip. The last procedure includes putting back the battery carrier and battery tray before filling the reservoir with brake fluid and performing a master cylinder bleed alongside brake line bleed. The reservoir requires fluid level verification and brake fluid leakage needs to be inspected.
