- Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?A: The procedure for removing the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring starts with disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by a minimum 90-second wait to ensure Air Bags stay disabled. Begin by positioning the front wheel tires in a straight direction while you follow proper removal directions to take off the steering wheel covers which are numbered No.2 and No.3. After disconnecting the steering wheel assembly remove both the steering pad. Use a screwdriver to remove the lower steering column cover by separating its 2 screws and 2 claws. The removal process starts by disconnecting the claw holding the upper steering column cover. The procedure ends with disconnecting the Air Bag connector and the connector of the clock spring sub-assembly while being cautious of Air Bag harness damage and removing the clock spring sub-assembly by releasing the three claws.
