The rear axle shaft removal requires the use of Special Service Tools 09521-25011 and 09521-25021 during the application of a press. Following the removal of the rear axle bearing retainer inner from the rear axle bearing you must remove the rear axle shaft washer from the same structure. The process requires attaching 4 nuts to the rear axle housing bolts before gently hammering away the 4 rear axle housing bolts and rear axle bearing while refraining from using the already removed nuts again. The removal of 5 hub bolts requires Special Service Tool: 09650-17011 for 2WD vehicles before the deflector and deflector gasket can be separated from the rear axle shaft. SST 09650-17011 should be used to remove six hub bolts from both 4WD and Pre-Runner vehicles before deflector removal with its gasket from the rear axle shaft. The rear axle bearing inner race requires grinding with a grinder before chiseling out the race and extracting the rear axle shaft oil seal from its location on the shaft.
