2008 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the steering knuckle on the LH side on 2008 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The installation starts with applying the new knuckle grease retainer cap through tapping it with a brass bar while using a hammer to protect the non-reusable component. Service tools 09951-01030 and 09950-60020 should be used to install the steering knuckle oil seal while avoiding damage to this non-reusable component. The front suspension upper arm should be bolted to the steering knuckle LH and tightened to 110 Nm (1122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf) while also installing a new clip by adjusting the bolt position to match the clip holes. Connect the lower front ball joint attachment which precedes the attachment of the tie rod end sub-assembly to the left hand side. The front axle hub sub-assembly LH requires installation while the front speed sensor LH connects to the steering knuckle through a bolt with a torque setting of 11 Nm (107 kgf-cm, 8 ft-lbf) and a clip attachment process follows. When attaching the front wheel tighten aluminum wheels to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) as well as steel wheels to 209 Nm (2131 kgf-cm, 154 ft-lbf). The technician should start by checking the speed sensor signal before examining the SRS warning light and proceeding to check and adjust front wheel alignment.
