    Q:
How to remove the steering knuckle on the LH side on Toyota Tundra? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to remove the LH steering knuckle includes disconnecting the negative cable from the battery until you wait at least 90 seconds to prevent Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation; some systems need initialization after reconnection. Begin by removing the front axle hub sub-assembly LH into position then separate the front speed sensor LH after bolt and clip removal before removing its connection from the steering knuckle. Separate the tie rod end sub-assembly LH by removing the cotter pin and nut while using Special Service Tool: 09610-20012 to detach the tie rod end from the steering knuckle with precaution against breaking either the front disc brake dust cover or ball joint dust cover or the steering knuckle. Use a jack to securely support the front suspension lower arm LH while you disconnect the front lower ball joint attachment through removing the clip and nut just before using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle. To expose the knuckle grease retainer cap LH users should tap it out using a screwdriver together with a hammer for 2WD vehicles while 4WD models require a screwdriver and hammer combination for steering knuckle oil seal LH removal.

    Q:
How to install the steering knuckle on the LH side on Toyota Sequoia? Posted by Customer
    A:
The LH steering knuckle installation begins with inserting a new knuckle grease retainer cap through hitting it with a brass bar and hammer until complete. Avoid damaging the non-reusable component. Press in a new steering knuckle oil seal using Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 and 09951-01030 while protecting the oil seal from damage as it is non-reusable. Mount the front suspension upper arm to the steering knuckle LH before installing a new clip by torquing a nut to 110 Nm (1122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf). Additional adjustment of the nut may be needed to align the clip holes properly. At the front join point, install the lower ball joint attachment together with the tie rod end sub-assembly followed by the front axle hub assembly sub-assembly and all mechanical components must also be installed. The front speed sensor LH must be installed on the steering knuckle through a 11 Nm (107 kgf-cm, 8 ft-lbf) torque bolt and subsequent clip fastening. When installing the front wheel use 131 Nm torque for aluminum wheels and 209 Nm for steel wheels. The last step of the repair process includes examining the speed sensor signal followed by an SRS warning light inspection before performing front wheel alignment adjustment when required.

    Q:
How to install the steering knuckle on the LH side on Toyota Tundra? Posted by Customer
    A:
Installing the LH steering knuckle requires first using a brass bar to install a new knuckle grease retainer cap with a hammer until it seats properly but take care to protect the non-reusable component from damage. The installation of a new steering knuckle oil seal requires Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 and 09951-01030 and pressing procedures while being mindful to avoid damaging the non-reusable seal. To install the steering knuckle LH begin by using a nut to attach the front suspension upper arm and torque this to 110 Nm (1,122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf) before installing a new clip by adjusting the nut alignment when needed. The front lower ball joint attachment LH must be connected with the tie rod end sub-assembly LH before installing the front axle hub sub-assembly LH. Tighten the bolt which holds the front speed sensor LH to the steering knuckle at 11 Nm (107 kgf-cm, 8 ft-lbf) and fix the clip to its proper place. Both aluminum and steel front wheels should receive proper torques with aluminum wheels secured to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) and steel wheels secured to 209 Nm (2131 kgf-cm, 154 ft-lbf). Reattach the cable to the negative battery terminal while being aware that some technical setups can need post-installation setup processes. Reviews of the speed sensor signal must be combined with SRS warning light verification and front wheel alignment checks with adjustments where necessary.
