Installation of the rear door lock begins with replacing the existing door lock packing materials when reusing outdated locks before cleaning all surfaces free from grease or dirt. First apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating parts of the front door lock before placing the rear door inside locking cable. Start with the 3 claw engagement and cover closure before installing the rear door lock remote control cable where the claw attachment should be complete and the cover should be securely put in place. Complete the installation by placing the new door lock wire harness seal on the rear door lock then inserting the rear door lock into the rear door outside handle release plate before setting it properly to the rear door panel while confirming that the rear door outside handle frame remains locked. Use Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or their equivalent on the screw threads then install rear door lock through three holes with a "TORX" socket wrench T30 and tighten to a torque of 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). The sequences include installation of the rear door glass sub-assembly followed by the rear door window frame rear lower sub-assembly and finally the rear door glass run, rear door service hole cover and rear door trim No. 2 bracket and rear door trim board sub-assembly and rear door inside handle bezel plug and rear door armrest base upper panel and rear door frame garnish.
