You must first remove the power back door rod whenever it exists before you start to take out the back door lock. Start by separating the back door center garnish then remove the side garnish on both right and left positions. The back door lock removal starts with taking off the back door strap cover followed by removing the back door pull strap. The next step requires removing both back door trim board assembly and back door service hole cover. nictivate the removal of the back door lock protector. The lock removal process starts with vehicle connector detachment and clamp separation and includes bolt removal of three back door lock fasteners for cars lacking power assisted door functions. To retrieve the back door lock a power back door car requires disconnecting the connector and disengaging the clamp followed by removing the 4 bolts.

The first step for installing the rear door lock involves replacing the existing door lock packing with fresh materials while performing a surface cleaning of this material to remove all dirt and grease. Start by applying MP grease to sliding and rotating parts of the front door lock followed by attachment of the rear door inside locking cable which needs 3 claws to secure the cover. The installation of the rear door lock remote control cable requires engagement of its claw before closing the cover. Prior to inserting the rear door lock into its outside handle release plate the technician should install a new door lock wire harness seal then set the lock at the rear door panel while ensuring proper locking of the outside handle frame. Using Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or an equivalent adhesive, attach it to the screw threads. Install the rear door lock with the three screws through the use of a "TORX" socket wrench T30 at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf torque. The correct order to install components includes rear door glass sub-assembly followed by rear door window frame rear lower sub-assembly then rear door glass run and finally rear door service hole cover until full completion of the rear door trim No. 2 bracket followed by rear door trim board sub-assembly before concluding with rear door inside handle bezel plug and rear door armrest base upper panel followed by rear door frame garnish.

If applicable, install the power back door rod.

Disconnect the connector, disengage the clamp, and remove the 4 bolts to free the back door lock.

Adhesive using Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324, or an equivalent.

Insert it into the front door lock and set it to the front door outside handle frame, ensuring it is securely connected.
