2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Parking Brake Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the parking brake cable on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step for cable remover involves taking away the wheel from the rear portion. The next procedure requires disconnecting the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH through removal of its 2 bolts which must be done without twisting or bending the flexible hose; install a wire to suspend the disc brake cylinder. The removal process starts with taking the rear disc followed by the parking brake shoe return spring then No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly LH, No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH with the parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly LH. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly that is number three. Recovery of refrigerant from the refrigeration system should happen first if your vehicle has a cool box then remove the front seat assembly on the LH side. Proceed to remove the No. 2 instrument panel finish panel cushion, lower instrument panel pad sub-assembly LH, No. 1 instrument panel finish panel cushion, lower instrument panel pad sub-assembly RH, shift lever knob sub-assembly, lower center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly, rear upper console panel sub-assembly, console cup holder box sub-assembly, upper console panel sub-assembly, No. 1 cooler cover, rear console end panel sub-assembly, rear console box sub-assembly (if not equipped with a cool box), and cooling box assembly (if equipped with a cool box). The No. 2 parking brake cable assembly needs the adjusting nut to loosen before disconnecting from the No. 1 parking brake pull rod followed by claw pinching to push the cable slightly outside of the vehicle while inclining the fuel tank and removing 6 bolts including the cable assembly and clamp. To remove the assembly of the No. 3 parking brake cable repeat these same steps starting with adjusting nut loosening then disconnecting from the No. 1 parking brake pull rod and pinching the claws and pushing the cable slightly outside the vehicle's body before removing 6 bolts and the cable assembly with its clamp attached.
