2008 Toyota Highlander Crankshaft Seal Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the front Crankshaft Seal on 2008 Toyota Highlander?
A: The front crankshaft oil seal replacement process begins with removing the front wheel on the right-hand side and continues with engine under cover removal, then proceeding with the No. 1 engine under cover extraction. You must remove three components from right-hand side: the front fender moulding sub-assembly RH, the front fender liner RH and the front fender apron seal RH. The V-ribbed belt together with the crankshaft pulley comes out through this process while using Special Service Tools 09213-70011 and 09213-70020 to free the crankshaft pulley bolt. Then Special Service Tools 09950-50013 and 09951-05010 remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. To detach the timing chain case oil seal you should use a screwdriver with taped-tip but while prying it out. Inspection of the crankshaft should follow removal and smoothing of damaged areas by using 400-grit sandpaper.
