2008 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Neutral Safety Switch from the U660E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: The first step to remove the Neutral Safety Switch from the U660E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE is disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Begin by disconnecting the duct seal for cool air intake then proceed with the No. 2 air cleaner inlet and air cleaner cap with its attached hose and air cleaner case. First detach the No. 1 air cleaner inlet and transmission control cable assembly by taking off the clip which holds the transmission cable bracket then unfastening the nut along with washer to extract the control shaft lever containing the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft. Begin by disconnecting the connector from the park/neutral position switch then remove its two bolts which secure it to the control shaft. The maintenance step of cleaning the control shaft's installation section must occur before switch removal since a properly installed plate spring depends on removal that is straight along the shaft. A deformed plate spring after removal will cause the park/neutral position switch to become uninstalled correctly.
