2008 Toyota Avalon Axle Shaft Parts Q&A
Q: How to disassemble the axle shaft on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: To start disassembling the front drive shaft you need to use a screwdriver to remove the front drive inner shaft outer LH shaft snap ring. After using pliers remove the inboard joint boot LH parts No.2 clamp and traditional clamp. Unfasten the inboard joint boot from its attachment to the joint assembly before creating matchmarks on both parts to avoid damaging them with a punch. Push the snap ring expander through the shaft to detach its snap ring for removal. Pinpoint both the outboard joint shaft and tripod joint with matchmarks before removing the tripod joint from the outboard joint shaft. Use a brass bar and hammer without hitting the roller during this step. Use pliers to detach the drive shaft damper clamp then take off the drive shaft damper. With pliers you should detach both outboard joint boot LH No.2 clamp and outboard joint boot LH clamp from the outboard joint assembly. Afterward you can take off the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft and flush grease from the outboard joint area. Use Special Service Tool: 09950-00020 together with a press to uninstall drive shaft dust cover LH and then RH through the same process. Rephrase the recommended steps by using Special Service Tool 09950-00020 along with a press to remove both drive shaft dust covers. Apply a snap ring expander to the drive shaft hole snap ring before using Special Service Tool: 09527-10011 and a press to uninstall the bearing and its bracket. Keep the inboard joint assembly intact during disassembly.
