2008 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the rear spoiler on 2008 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The rear spoiler requires removing its 2 grommets and 2 bolts before disconnecting the stop light connector when preparing for installation. Disassemble the center stop light assembly by eliminating the 2 bolts which secure it. A drill with a point less than 4 mm dia (0.16 in.) will be needed for cutting rear spoiler clip No. 1 but only after taping the point to 5 mm (0.20 in.) to avoid excessive drilling. Apply the drill tip vertically onto the rivet to slice through its flanges before pulling out the rivet. No excessive pressure should be applied when using a drill because it may cause the rivet to turn with the drill preventing a clean cut but prizing the hole with a drill holds risks of damaging the rivet hole or damaging the drill itself. Take caution because the cut rivet will remain hot. Complete the hole cleaning process by removing the 2 spoiler clips from the back door panel.
