2009 Toyota 4Runner Spoiler Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the rear spoiler on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The rear spoiler removal requires users to uninstall the 2 grommets together with 2 bolts before separating the center stop light connector. The next step involves extracting the center stop light assembly through unfastening the two associated bolts. A drill tip with dia 4 mm (0.16 in.) or less should be used for splitting rear spoiler clip No. 1 with a 5 mm (0.20 in.) taped drill tip to avoid drilling too deeply. The drill tip should be positioned vertically and carefully onto the rivet before cutting the flanges to extract the rivet. Excessive drilling pressure risks making the rivet turn with the drill tool thus blocking a proper cut while drilling actions on rivet holes might harm both components. Proceed with caution because the cut rivet will be hot to the touch. The last action involves removing both spoiler clips from the back door panel.
