  • Q: How to install the front Crankshaft Seal on 2008 Scion xD?
    A: A new oil seal requires a coat of MP grease applied to its lip before installation on the 2ZR-FE engine front crankshaft. After applying MP grease to the lip of a new oil seal the technician must use Special Service Tool: 09223-22010 and a hammer to tap the oil seal while it reaches the timing chain cover edge at a depth between -1 mm to 1 mm. The technician will avoid tapping at an angle and must maintain the lip free of foreign particles. Insert the pulley set key into the key groove of the crankshaft pulley where you will secure it with Special Service Tool: 09213-58013 91651-60855 before tightening the bolt to 190 Nm (1940 kgf-cm, 140 ft-lbf) using Special Service Tool: 09330-00021. Install the fan and generator V belt after which you should make adjustments and check for correct tension in the belt. Finally install the No. 2 cylinder head cover and inspect for engine oil leakage as a prerequisite to setting the engine under cover RH.
