- Q: How to remove the throttle body assembly on 2008 Scion xB?A: The removal process of throttle body assembly from 2AZ-FE engine control system starts with draining engine coolant. The first step is to eliminate the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly through the removal of 2 nuts. The procedure begins by disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector followed by wire harness separation and disconnection of the No. 1 vacuum switching valve. Next is ventilation hose removal and separation of the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose. The technician should loosen the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp and unlock the air cleaner assembly clamp before removing the air cleaner filter element. The procedure for removing the throttle body assembly begins by taking out the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose followed by the No. 1 water by-pass hose then the No. 2 water by-pass hose followed by disconnection of the connector then the throttle hose. Disconnect the 4 bolts to remove the fuel pipe support combined with throttle body assembly and pull off the gasket from the intake manifold.
