How to service the Neutral Safety Switch on 2008 Scion xB?

Service of the Neutral Safety Switch starts with battery and No. 2 battery carrier removal. Detach the connector which operates the park/neutral position switch assembly first. Disengage the transmission control cable assembly by removing the nut at the control shaft lever and detach the lever at its nut. A screwdriver can be used to detach the lock plate after which another attempt with a screwdriver will separate the manual valve shaft nut and lock plate. To finish disconnect the assembly of the park/neutral position switch by removing its 2 bolts and extracting it from the manual valve lever shaft.
