2008 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the Liftgate Lift Support lower bracket for the back door damper stay on 2008 Scion xB?
A: Clean the threaded body portion from the vehicle and apply Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or an equivalent adhesive to the 2 bolt threads before installing the back door damper stay lower bracket. Secure the bracket by using its 2 bolts while tightening them to 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf). Clean the threaded vehicle body portion for the back door damper stay upper bracket and load Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 on the bolt threads before installing the bracket with a specified torque. Touching the stroke regions of the rod during the back door stay assembly should be avoided to stop attachment of foreign matter while cotton gloves must be avoided for preventing fiber contamination and no horizontal pressures should be applied on cylinders to prevent deformation. Enough support must be given to the back door before installing the stop ring to the back door stay assembly.
