2008 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring on 2008 Scion tC?
A: The procedure for removing the shock absorber with coil spring from the front component begins by removing the front wheel. Begin by removing the front wiper arm head cap before proceeding to remove both left and right front wiper arms. Take out both the hood to cowl top seal and the left cowl top ventilator louver from the vehicle. Place a wooden block on a jack next to the front No. 1 suspension lower arm to support it while you disconnect the front stabilizer link assembly on the left side by removing the nut holding the shock absorber with coil spring to the link. Use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud if required. The front speed sensor on the left needs disconnection after removing its bolt along with separating the flexible hose and speed sensor until a complete separation from the shock absorber assembly happens. The shock absorber assembly requires the lock nut to remain in its position before loosening it while performing shock absorber assembly disassembly. Begin by keeping the bolt inside the lower shock absorber with coil spring while loosening the two nuts that fasten the unit. Next untighten the three nuts from the upper area. Lastly lower the jack at a controlled speed while removing both lower bolts together with the shock absorber along with its coil spring until the speed sensor gets completely removed.
