2008 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the ABS Control Module on 2008 Scion tC?
A: The installation starts with attaching the brake actuator assembly to its bracket through two nuts while torquing it at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The brake actuator assembly installation requires two bolt and nut attachment with 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) torque but caution needs to be taken to avoid brake tubes and wire harness damage and installation order must be followed as illustrated. The brake actuator connector assembly requires a torque wrench with a 30 cm (11.81 in.) fulcrum length to fasten the connector with lever lock. Connect the 6 brake tubes to their designated locations on the actuator using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 where torque should be set to 14 Nm (145 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) and 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). After that, install the right headlight unit and front bumper cover followed by installing front fender liner on both sides before securing the hood to front end panel seal. Connect the right front wheel with a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) while performing a cable connection to the negative battery terminal but remember that system initialization might be needed after the cables are reattached. You need to add brake fluid to the reservoir before performing air bleeding and reservoir check and inspecting the brake system for fluid leakages. Through the intelligent tester, inspect the brake actuator then begin preparing the headlight aiming process followed by necessary adjustments to the lights if needed.
