2007 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the crankshaft position sensor on 2007 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The service for crankshaft position sensor begins by disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal. Engine under cover sub-assembly No.1 should be removed from vehicles with 4WD or Pre-Runner models before removing the generator V belt that exists only on vehicles with air conditioning. The service follows two steps involving compressor-to-magnetic clutch separation followed by bracket-and-idle pulley assembly removal after you remove all 5 bolts. First loosen the crankshaft position sensor connector followed by detaching the two wire harness clamps and then unfasten the bolt to pull out the sensor. Attach the new crankshaft position sensor after coating its O-ring with engine oil; install the sensor with the bolt then torque it to 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf). Verify that the O-ring remains undamaged and not jammed. Reinstall the crankshaft position sensor after connecting its connector along with the 2 wire harness clamps. Follow the specified sequence when installing the idle pulley assembly-bracket combination by tightening bolt A to 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf) and bolts B and C to 43 N.m (438 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) then continue with compressor and magnetic clutch installation before adding the fan and generator V belt and finishing with the engine under cover sub-assembly No.1. Fasten the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).
