2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the rear Sway Bar Kit on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: The service and repair of the rear sway bar kit requires starting with rear wheel removal before proceeding to disconnect the left-hand rear sway bar link assembly through removing its 2 nuts and sway bar link. If the ball joint rotates alongside the nut, stabilize the stud using a 5 mm hexagon wrench. Apply the complete process on both right-hand and left-hand sides. The sway bar kit's removal process starts by uninstalling the floor panel brace rear and its 2 bolts before proceeding to take off the member brace rear lower with its 4 bolts on both sides and ending with the removal of the 4 bolts on both sides from the center floor panel reinforcement subassembly. The technician should then proceed to remove the sway bar kit while removing all 8 bolts as well as the 4 sway bar brackets, 2 sway bar bushes from the setup. To inspect the rear sway bar link assembly on the left-hand side first flip the ball joint stud to perform back-and-forth movement five times before installing the nut while using a torque wrench to slowly turn the nut for 3 to 5 seconds per turn to obtain the torque reading on the 5th turn, the turning torque must be 1.0 Nm (10 kgf-cm, 9 inch lbs.) or lower and if outside specifications replace the rear sway bar link assembly. Check that the reaction during rotation is normal and inspect for both dust cover leakage and cracks. Begin sway bar bush installation by mounting it on the outer side of the stopper ring on the sway bar kit and proceed to install both sway bar bushes along with four sway bar brackets by using eight bolts that should be tightened to 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). It is crucial to use proper bolt types (A, B) during installation. The subassembly of 4 Bolt A fastened bolts (at 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft. lbs.)) must be installed on both sides to the center floor panel reinforcement of convertibles. The rear sway bar link assembly installation for the left-hand side requires 2 nuts which should be tightened to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.). A hexagon wrench (5 mm) is needed when the ball joint moves with the nut. After performing the left-hand side installation reinstall the rear wheel while tightening it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
