2007 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front lower ball joint on 2007 Toyota Sienna?
A: You need to start service and repair of the front lower ball joint by first taking off the front wheel followed by the front axle hub LH nut which requires Special Service Tool: 09930-00010. Service begins with separating the speed sensor front LH together with the front disc brake caliper assembly LH and the front disc. First disconnect the tie rod assembly LH using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 before you split the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH and pull out the front axle assembly LH. To detach the lower ball joint assembly front LH start by removing its nut and cotter pin while using Special Service Tool 09628-62011. The installation of the lower ball joint assembly front LH requires flipping the ball joint stud back and forth five times before torquing the nut using a wrench to a setting between 0.98 to 3.43 Nm (10 to 35 kgf-cm, 8.7 to 30 inch lbs.). The installation of the lower ball joint assembly front LH requires tightening the nut to 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft. lbs.) following new cotter pin application but with additional torque applied to 60° if the pin holes do not align correctly. Following, install the front axle assembly LH together with the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH and tie rod assembly LH followed by the front disc and front disc brake caliper assembly LH and speed sensor front LH and front axle hub LH nut which should be tightened to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Inspection of front wheel alignment and ABS speed sensor signal check must be performed in the last step.
