2007 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front Brake Line on 2007 Toyota RAV4?
A: Start the front brake flexible hose service by uninstalling the front wheel followed by fluid drainage and cleaning any residue that reaches painted surfaces. Service technicians should unlink the brake tube from the flexible hose through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 after holding the hose with a wrench while maintaining brake tube integrity and protecting against foreign intrusion. Starting with the knuckle the technician should first remove element B which is a clip followed by bolts C and D and finally the E element the flexible hose clamp. After removing the union bolt along with its gaskets you can detach the flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder. Installation requires joining the new flexible hose with gasket(s) to the disc brake cylinder through the union bolt before torquing it to 29.4 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.) while ensuring the flexible hose lock remains secure. Place the flexible hose clamp on its bracket before hanging and attaching the sensor clamp hooks according to the label markings. The bolt labeled (C) should be tightened for clamp installation, while the flexible hose bolt (D) uses the same torque value to 18.5 Nm (189 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Use Service Tool: 09023-00101 to attach the flexible hose to brake tube (labeled A) with new clip (labeled B) when using a wrench to achieve 15.2 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque at connections but 14 Nm applies with tool usage. After filling up the brake fluid reservoir follow the steps of bleeding air out of all systems including brake master cylinder and brake lines and ABS and traction actuator assembly before checking brake fluid level and inspecting for leaks. Reinstall the front wheel while torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
