2007 Toyota RAV4 Brake Line Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the rear Brake Line on 2007 Toyota RAV4?
A: The service of the rear brake flexible hose starts by removing the rear wheel while draining brake fluid from the system and promptly cleaning painted surfaces that come into contact with fluid. The LH side brake tube (labeled A) requires removal from the flexible hose using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 when staff holds the flexible hose with a wrench to avoid brake tube bending or damage alongside foreign matter entry into the brake tube. Separated first are the clip (labeled B) and afterward the union bolt along with the gaskets to disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder. Fasten the flexible hose using new gasket(s) together with the union bolt to the disc brake cylinder before tightening it to 30.4 Nm (310 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.). Ensure the flexible hose lock is fully secured into the lock hole of the cylinder. Install the flexible hose onto the connecting point with the brake tube by attaching the new clip. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to fit the flexible hose to brake tube (marked A) by using a wrench before torquing it to 15.2 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) without tool support or 14 Nm (144 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) when using tool support. The torque wrench must have a 30 cm (11.81 inch) fulcrum length. Post-installation requires brake fluid addition to the reservoir followed by air removal from the brake master cylinder and brake line as well as the ABS and traction actuator assembly then check the reservoir fluid amount before leak inspections and wheel torque application to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
