2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front wheel speed sensor on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: Service and repair operations for the front wheel speed sensor require front wheel and fender liner removal as the first step. Detach the sensor connector before removing 2 bolts (A and B) with their respective 2 sensor clamps from the body and front shock absorber so that bolt B should remain tightened with the brake flexible hose clamp. After removing the clip from the front shock absorber you must pull out the bolt and sensor to avoid foreign matter adhering to the speed sensor tip or connection. The sensor installation requires cleaning the connection area before using the bolt to mount it while torquing it to 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). The next step requires positioning the clip on the front shock absorber before attaching the sensor clamps to the body and front shock absorber by torquing bolt A to 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) while torquing bolt B to 19 N.m (192 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) along with tightening the brake flexible hose clamp that sits above the bolt B. Connect the sensor connector after reinstalling the front fender liner along with the front wheel by torquing the bolt to 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf). Perform a signal check of the ABS speed sensor as the final step.
