2008 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on 2008 Toyota Prius?
A: The installation of the front speed sensor requires ensuring the sensor wire harness remains untwisted while also checking for foreign material on the speed sensor tip and connecting section; clean the tug if needed before installation. The sensor can be attached by tightening the bolt to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) before securing the clip on the front shock absorber. Secure the sensor clamps to the body and front shock absorber using the proper procedure where bolt A needs 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) while bolt B requires 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). Additionally, tighten bolt B at the same time that you replace the brake flexible hose clamp located above the sensor clamp. The sensor connector should be connected before installing the front fender liner and front wheel while tightening them with a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). As the last step check the ABS speed sensor signal.
