2009 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on 2009 Toyota Prius?
A: The front speed sensor installation requires checking the sensor wire harness for proper untwisting and eliminating all foreign substances from both the sensor tip and its connection area. Clean the speed sensor connector area after which you can fasten the sensor by applying 8.0 Nm torque to the bolt (82 kgf-cm or 71 in-lbf). The installation requires first attaching the clip to the front shock absorber before tightening bolts A and B to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) for bolt A and 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) for bolt B with the additional step of securing the brake flexible hose clamp above the sensor clamp. The front wheel installation should follow by attaching the sensor connector and then installing the front fender liner before tightening the front wheel to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). The last check requires examination of the ABS speed sensor signal.
