2007 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the PARK/NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH on 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH servicing requires you to disconnect the negative battery cable before waiting 90 seconds and then service the component. Start this service by disconnecting the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR followed by the removal of the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY through lock washer prying with a screwdriver and subsequent lock nut, lock washer, and bolt removal steps. Check the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH functionality by disconnecting its PNP switch connector while measuring resistance through each shift lever position. Set the park/neutral position switch bolt loose then move to N position with the shift lever before aligning the switch groove to the neutral basic line holding position before tightening the bolt to 13 N m (130 kgf cm, 9 ft. lbf). After adjustment, perform the inspection. Installation of the park/neutral position switch requires attaching it to the manual valve shaft followed by bolting insertion before installing a new lock washer and nut with a torque of 7.0 N m (71 kgf cm, 62 in. lbf). Place the control shaft at its full rear position followed by switching the control shaft lever to the N position, line up the neutral basic line with the switch groove then tighten the bolt to 13 N m torque. Afterwards bend the lock washer tabs. Reattach the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR after connecting it and restore the cable to the negative battery terminal. The system requires initialization due to particular startup requirements that occur after cable connection and disconnection. End the process by checking the shift lever position then making adjustments before inspecting the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY.
