The first step to work on the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor requires taking out both the No. 2 engine under cover and transmission control shaft lever. You must first disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector before using a screwdriver to remove the park/neutral position switch by uninstalling the nut through the removal of the bolt followed by the switch. Secure the new park/neutral position switch to its bolt then apply 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) torque before installing a new lock plate and nut with 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) torque. Next, secure the nut using bent lock plate claws. After securing the lock plate with bent claws the nut will hold firmly while adjusting the park/neutral position switch. Reattach the connectors to the park/neutral position switch before establishing the transmission control shaft lever and tightening its components to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.) on the switch side and 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) on the rod side. The No. 2 engine under cover needs to be reinstalled as the final step.
