2007 Toyota Corolla Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the clutch master cylinder on 2007 Toyota Corolla?
A: The clutch master cylinder service needs draining of fluid then removal of brake master cylinder sub-assembly and brake booster assembly. You should disconnect the clutch reservoir tube through the use of a container that collects fluid as you loosen its clip. The operation to detach the clutch master cylinder needs Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 and requires fluid drainage into a container. First remove the clutch pedal spring before removing the clutch master cylinder push rod clevis together with its hole pin through the clip removal process. Move on with the removal of the clutch master cylinder assembly after unscrewing its two nuts. Start by driving out the slotted spring pin with a pin punch and hammer to remove the clutch master cylinder kit and continue by taking off the inlet union and grommet before loosening the lock nut then taking off the clevis and lock nut from the push rod. Use snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring first along with the push rod from the cylinder body after boot removal as pushing the push rod during installation. Maintain caution since the piston may suddenly exit the cylinder body. Proceed with removing the stop plate together with the piston and spring from the cylinder making sure not to harm the cylinder body interior surfaces. First apply lithium soap base glycol grease on all components before placing the piston with spring inside the cylinder body followed by insertion of stop plate and push rod. When pushing the push rod install the boot together with snap ring followed by lock nut application and attaching the clevis temporarily using the lock nut. Screw in the inlet union along with a fresh grommet while pushing the slotted spring pin. The clutch master cylinder assembly installation requires two nuts which should be tightened to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Set the hole pin contact surface with clevis bush MP grease before inserting the hole pin (from right side of vehicle approach) to join the clevis assembly with clutch pedal sub-assembly and fasten it with a clip. The clutch spring should be installed before attaching the clutch master cylinder assembly to the flexible hose tube by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while applying 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque. Afterwards, install the reservoir tube by using a clip that positions the white mark facing upwards. Reinstall the brake booster assembly with the brake master cylinder sub-assembly and perform brake line and clutch pipe line bleeding by filling the reservoir tank with clutch fluid. The last steps include brake pedal height inspection with adjustment followed by examination of the clutch pedal sub-assembly together with checking for brake fluid and clutch fluid leaks before verifying the reservoir fluid level.
