2006 Toyota Corolla Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2006 Toyota Corolla?
A: The Clutch Master Cylinder repair process starts with draining the clutch fluid along with cleaning all paint surfaces affected by remaining brake fluid residues. Start the clutch repair by removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly together with the brake booster assembly and by disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube through clip removal. Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 helps to disconnect the clutch master cylinder to flexible hose tube and enables fluid catchment in a container. First remove the clutch pedal spring followed by taking out the clutch master cylinder push rod clevis hole pin after unclipping and pulling out the hole pin. The two nuts need to be removed from the clutch master cylinder assembly to pull it out. To start with the clutch master cylinder kit installation, utilize a pin punch along with a hammer to drive out the spring pin with slotted holes, disconnect the inlet union with its grommet before loosening the clevis lock nut and taking off the push rod lock nut. Take the boot off the cylinder body before using snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring by pushing against the piston rod and carefully extract the push rod from the cylinder body while being aware that the piston could suddenly detach itself. The process requires users to first remove the stop plate and piston with spring from the cylinder ensuring the inside of the cylinder body stays undamaged. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the designated parts before putting the piston with spring inside the cylinder followed by installing the stop plate on the push rod. The cylinder body should receive the push rod while adding the snap ring through piston rod pressure and subsequently installing the boot. Attach the lock nut to the push rod but first install both the clevis piece with its lock nut and finish with the inlet union and new grommet. Drive the slotted spring pin until it reaches 1.5 to 3.5 mm (0.059 to 0.138 inch) beyond the surface of the cylinder. The clutch master cylinder assembly should be installed with two nuts while achieving 12 Nm torque (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). The clevis bush needs MP grease application on its contact surfaces before assembly with the hole pin to connect the clutch pedal sub-assembly and fasten the clip. The clutch master cylinder should be connected to the flexible hose tube by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while torquing to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Then connect the clutch reservoir tube to the clip with the white mark facing in an upward direction. The brake booster assembly and brake master cylinder sub-assembly should be installed after which the brake line and clutch pipe line must be bled by filling the brake reservoir tank with clutch fluid. The technician must torque the clutch line to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 inch lbs.) before adjusting brake pedal position and inspecting and adjusting the clutch pedal sub-assembly. Both the brake and clutch systems should be checked for fluid leaks. The last step involves checking clutch fluid leakage and verifying the reservoir contains enough fluid.
