2007 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Transmission Speed Sensor on 2007 Toyota Camry?
A: The servicing process for the Transmission Speed Sensor begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable followed by battery removal. Following the removal of the air cleaner inlet assembly proceed to take off the air cleaner cap subassembly followed by the air cleaner case subassembly. Legally service the NT sensor by disconnecting its speed sensor connector followed by removing bolt and speed sensor to discard its O-ring. The service of NC sensor requires users to execute the same steps as NT: disconnect speed sensor connector, remove bolt and speed sensor and remove O-ring. Test the resistance values of both speed sensors after disconnecting their transaxle connectors before deciding to replace any speed sensor when the results fall outside specified parameters. Installation requires puzzling a new O-ring with ATF WS before mounting it to the NC sensor followed by bolt attachment at 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 inch lbs.) before connecting the speed sensor connector. Rephrase this installation step for the sensor located on the NT side of the transmission. Reassemble all parts by first installing the air cleaner case subassembly then the air cleaner cap subassembly followed by the air cleaner inlet assembly and finally reinstall the battery before connecting the cable to its negative terminal while torquing it to 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 inch lbs.).
