2007 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the oil filter on 2007 Toyota Camry?
A: The first step to install a new oil filter requires proper safety precautions including protective clothing because engine oil both irritates the skin and carries toxic substances. Protective gear and gloves should be worn when replacing the filter while skin needs immediate post-handling cleansing. Correct disposal locations exist for used engine oil and filters. The oil replacement process starts by opening the oil filler cap and pulling out the oil drain plug for proper oil collection in a suitable container. The procedure for installing an oil filter sub-assembly requires Special Service Tool: 09228-06501. The first installation step requires cleaning of the oil filter installation area followed by gasket application with fresh engine oil on a new filter before screwing it into place by hand until the gasket makes seal contact with the seat. Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 must be used for the oil filter tightness. Install the new oil filter by gently tightening it with a torque wrench to 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) or hand-tighten it with 3/4 turn in case of space restrictions. You must clean and properly install the drain plug with a new gasket but you must first tighten it to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Next follow standard capacities to add new oil and finally secure the oil filler cap properly. Inspect for oil leakages from underneath the engine.
