The initial step for repairing the fuel pressure regulator involves draining fuel system pressure. Either a Coupe or Convertible requires the removal of its rear seat cushion assembly before removing the rear floor service hole cover and disconnecting the fuel pump connector. Start by taking out the tube joint clip before pulling the fuel pump tube from its sub-assembly while taking caution not to let dirt access the fuel tube joint. Remove the fuel tank vent tube set plate through 8 bolt removal before disconnecting the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge while protecting the fuel pump filter and the sender gauge arm from damage. First disconnect the sender gauge connector before unlocking the gauge unit for sliding removal. The procedure to remove the fuel suction plate sub-assembly requires needle nozzle pliers to strip out the E-ring while unscrewing the fuel No. 1 suction support claws and extracting the spring. The procedure requires a complete removal of the fuel pump by disconnecting its harness and carefully releasing the 5 claws while pulling it out. This step should not involve damaging any components including the fuel pump filter or suction filter. First take out the fuel pump O-ring followed by using a screwdriver with protective tape to remove the fuel pressure regulator assembly before handling its two O-rings. Place a modest gasoline layer onto two new O-rings before adding them to the fuel pressure regulator for installation on the fuel filter. First put gasoline on a fresh O-ring for the fuel pump then secure the fuel pump harness while using the 5 claws to connect the fuel pump with the pump filter. Follow these steps to reconnect the fuel pump harness to the fuel suction plate while adding the fuel No. 1 suction support and securing it with the fuel suction plate sub-assembly by engaging its claws with its spring. Place a new E-ring before inserting the fuel sender gauge properly while connecting its connector to it. After applying a new gasket on the fuel suction tube you should place the tube in position without hurting the fuel pump filter or the sender gauge arm. Secure the fuel suction tube to the fuel tank vent tube set plate through alignment of the mark using 8 bolts tightened to 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf). The fuel pump tube sub-assembly must receive attention to eliminate foreign particles and verify the complete insertion of tube joints alongside proper placement of tube joint clips. Install new butyl tape onto the rear floor service hole cover before putting back the rear seat cushion assembly of either Coupe or Convertible.

Disconnect the fuel main tube and remove the damper assembly by taking out the 2 bolts.

Inspect for fuel leaks and install the rear seat cushion assembly.

Install the fuel tank protector plate with 2 bolts, also torqued to 6.0 Nm (60 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf).

Remove the 2 bolts and fuel tank protector plate.

Begin by disassembling the components: remove the fuel suction support No.2 using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in tape to disengage the 5 snap claws, ensuring not to damage the support.

Attach it to the fuel delivery pipe and secure it with the clip.

Ensure no dirt or foreign objects are present on the connector and protect the disconnected part with a vinyl bag.

Align the mark of the set plate with the fuel suction tube and install it with the 8 bolts, torqued to 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf).

Be careful not to damage the fuel pump filter or bend the arm of the sender gauge.

Remove the 2 bolts and the fuel tank protector plate.

Install the intake air surge tank.

Apply a light coat of gasoline or spindle oil.

Install the fuel main tube, air cleaner cap sub-assembly, and engine cover sub-assembly.

Remove the O-ring and apply a light coat of gasoline to a new O-ring before installing it onto the pressure regulator.

Apply a light coat of gasoline or spindle oil to the O-ring of the fuel pressure pulsation damper.

Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal and inspect for any fuel leaks.

Disconnect the fuel pump connector (*1) and the vapor pressure sensor connector (*2).
