2007 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Engine Control Module on 2007 Toyota Camry?
A: Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and proceed to take out the 2 bolts from the air cleaner bracket as well as the air cleaner case sub-assembly air cleaner cap sub-assembly and air cleaner inlet assembly before uninstalling the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly. The first step to disconnect the ECM connectors includes lifting the levers to push the locks and confirming that dirt water and foreign matter stay away from the connector connection area. Take the 3 bracket-securing bolts to detach the ECM unit before removing the ECM assembly with bracket and the 4 ECM bracket screws. To install the bracket first tighten the 4 screws onto the ECM at 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf) torque before installing the ECM with 3 bolts at 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). Seam the 2 ECM connectors after making sure all debris and moisture remains outside the connections then firmly lock the 2 levers. Finish the installation by replacing the air cleaner case sub-assembly and air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the engine cover sub-assembly. Also execute the RESET MEMORY process after replacing the ECM if initialization of the A/T is needed.
