How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2008 Toyota Camry?

The first step for Engine Control Module (ECM) removal and replacement of the 2AZ-FE engine control system requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. First separate the No.1 engine cover sub-assembly from the vehicle and then remove the air cleaner inlet assembly before taking away the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and finally removing the air cleaner case sub-assembly. You should detach the air cleaner bracket by eliminating its two securing bolts. Use the levers to disconnect the 2 ECM connectors by pushing their locks but keep the levers raised to prevent any contact of connecting parts with foreign material such as dirt or water. The ECM must be extracted by disconnecting three attaching bolts between the ECM bracket before removing it along with the bracket and completing the procedure by unscrewing the four ECM bracket screws.
