How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2009 Toyota Camry?

The 2AZ-FE engine control system requires disconnection of negative battery cable terminal as the initial step before ECM replacement. First remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly then proceed with the air cleaner inlet assembly before taking off the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and finally the air cleaner case sub-assembly. Remove the air cleaner bracket through the removal of its two bolts. The levers on both ECM connectors require raising and lock pushing to disconnect them according to procedure while protecting the connector connection point from foreign material intrusion. The final step involves detaching the ECM using three mounting bolts and a bracket before removing this assembly altogether and then uninstalling four bracket screws.
