2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the TPMS Sensor and Transmitter on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The operation of servicing the Tire Pressure Warning Valve and Transmitter starts with removing front and rear wheels. Take off the valve core and cap while releasing tire air before you can separate the sensor-holding washer and nut to let the device fall into the tire chamber. When you remove the tire bead use the shoe tool carefully because any sensor damage could occur. Normal installation procedure should begin with taking out the upper bead then extracting the sensor out from the tire before removing the lower bead. After removing the inner grommet from the sensor check for damage to confirm replacement of the sensor and washer with the nut. Install the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter into the valve installation hole by inserting it from the inside of the rim while checking both the visibility of the printing surface and the presence of debris or deformation. Tighten the nut which holds the washer from the rim side to 4.0 Nm (41 kgf/cm, 35 in. lbs.) while checking for external objects. Checks for air leaks must be performed with soapy water after inflating the tire while the valve nut is retightened according to the specified torque. Position the sensor main body in the shaded area on the mounting machine to prevent interference while you install the lower tire bead onto the wheel disc. The upper bead installation must avoid placing any clamps directly on top of the sensor. To complete installation and inspection for both wheel types you must torque them to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf/cm, 76 ft.lbs.). Then verify the tire condition before registering the transmitter ID. Cut off removal of the battery requires opening the cover and exposing the battery and base board to cut off the two terminal connections.
