2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the knock sensor on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The repair of the knock sensor begins with removing the cylinder head sub-assembly. Before proceeding disconnect the heater water inlet hose A and unscrew the 4 wire harness clamps [A] and 3 bolts [B] to remove water outlet pipe No.1. Service of knock sensors begins by disconnecting their connectors followed by removing their securing bolts to extract them. First detach both knock sensors then fasten them by tightening 2 bolts to 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) before connecting the 2 knock sensor connectors. Reinsert water outlet pipe No.1 through the mounting with the 3 bolts [A] which must achieve a torque force of 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). Additionally, reinstall the 4 wire harness clamps [B]. First install the heater water inlet hose A before finally putting on the cylinder head sub-assembly.
