• Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?

  A: Service and repair of the throttle body requires the user to first disconnect the negative battery cable terminals then drain the engine coolant. Begin the service procedure by unscrewing the 2 V-bank cover retaining nuts. Start by disconnecting ventilation hose No. 2 and the vacuum hose along with the mass air flow meter connector from the air cleaner assembly. Then detach the assembly by removing its 2 wire harness clamps and unfastening the 2 hose clamps and taking out the 2 bolts. After disconnecting water by-pass hoses No. 5 and No. 4 and the throttle motor connector the operator should remove the 4 bolts to detach the throttle w/motor body assembly along with its gasket. A new gasket should be applied to the throttle with motor body assembly before installing it using 4 bolts tightened to 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf). Afterwards, attach the throttle motor connector and both water by-pass hoses. The installation involves tightening 2 bolts to 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) while securing 2 hose clamps and reinstalling 2 wire harness clamps before reattaching the mass air flow meter connector with the vacuum hose and ventilation hose No. 2. Begin by attaching the cable to the negative battery terminal then torque it to 3.9 N.m while adding engine coolant before checking for any leakage and finishing with the V-bank cover installation using 2 nuts torqued to 7.5 N.m.
