2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Service and repair of the fuel injector needs you to first release system pressure from the fuel system and remove the negative battery cable. Engines require draining coolant before removing V-bank cover and separating the No.2 ventilation hose. The maintenance requires removal of air cleaner assembly while disconnecting fuel vapor feed hose with ventilation hose and 2 VSV connectors and throttle motor connector from its position. Proceed to disconnect the hose clamp and wire harness clamps before taking out the 3 surge tank stays upper bolts and throttle body bracket retaining bolts. An 8 mm socket hexagon wrench enables users to detach both the 4 bolts and 2 nuts which allow them to remove the intake air surge tank and gasket. To disconnect the No1 fuel pipe sub-assembly you must remove the fuel pipe clamp before pinching the tube connector to extract the fuel pipe while inspecting for dirt and scratches. The procedure must be executed on the No2 fuel pipe sub-assembly also. Separate the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly through connector separation from 6 fuel injectors and bolt removal of 6 pieces while protecting the components from fall. The procedure begins with fitting new insulators onto injectors before applying spindle oil or gasoline on O-rings to install them together with the connector pointing toward the outside. Secure the intake manifold and install the 6 bolts on the fuel delivery pipe with fuel injectors. Evaluate injector rotation until they achieve a torque of 15 N.m (153 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf). Installation of the fuel pipe sub-assembly requires tubes to be assembled and checked for contamination before clamping and verifying the pipe click. Perform this process once again for the No1 fuel pipe sub-assembly. First place the intake air surge tank onto its new gasket while installing two nuts to 28 N.m (286 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf). Afterward tighten four more bolts to the same torque specification followed by upper bolts applications at 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf). Reinstall the 3 wire harness clamps and hose clamp after joining the throttle motor connector with the 2 VSV connectors and ventilation hose and No4 and No5 water by-pass hoses and air cleaner assembly. The procedure ends with connecting the No2 ventilation hose and installing the V-bank cover before reconnecting the battery negative terminal at 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) while performing checks for coolant or fuel leaks.
