2008 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the fuel injector assembly on 2008 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The first step for installing the fuel injector assembly includes fitting a new grommet and insulator onto the injector. The O-ring on injector requires a groove inspection for foreign particles and damage before installation with gasoline-treatment of new O-rings and application to the injector. Use the delivery pipe to mount the injector which should easily rotate in opposite directions but requires replacement of the O-ring with a fresh one if it cannot turn properly. When installing the injector along with the delivery pipe to the intake manifold for the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly turn it at approximately 45 degrees in both directions. Fasten two nuts onto the delivery pipe injector combination after inserting the spacer between the intake manifold and delivery pipe while tightening the nuts with 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf). The fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly requires you to perform this process again. The fuel hose installation requires two new gaskets along with torquing the fuel main hose with the fuel pressure pulsation damper to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf). The mechanic should install the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly first then secure the No. 3 fuel pipe sub-assembly while tightening these components to 18 Nm (185 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) and 7.5 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 66 ft-lbf) respectively. The No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assembly requires installation using bolts combined with 4 new gaskets by means of 2 union bolts which must reach a torque of 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf). After air cleaner hose install, verify there is no fuel leakage before attaching the throttle body cover sub-assembly at 7.5 Nm torque.
