2009 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the fuel injector and related components on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: You should start the fuel injector installation by placing new insulators on each component followed by applying spindle oil or gasoline on the new O-ring before putting it onto each injector. Before installation onto the fuel delivery pipe use a left-right motion while facing the connector outward. You should position the fuel delivery pipe onto the intake manifold while attaching 6 bolts as provisionary retention. Carry out tests to notice regular injector rotations before switching to new O-rings due to their condition. Tighten each of the 6 bolts to reach a torque value of 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). Subsequently connect the 6 injector connectors. The fuel pipe sub-assembly requires inserting the tube connector into the pipe until it clicks and checking for damage or foreign things before securing the fuel pipe clamp. The installation procedure should be performed for the second fuel pipe sub-assembly. The repair requires fitting new components prior to tightening 2 nuts to 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf) while installing 4 bolts with an 8 mm socket hexagon wrench to the same torque value. Complete assembly by anchoring 3 upper bolts on the throttle body bracket and surge tank stays to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf) with a concomitant installation of 3 wire harness clamps and 1 hose clamp. The throttle motor connector must be joined with both VSV connectors and ventilation hose and fuel vapor feed hose and No. 4 and No. 5 water by-pass hoses. You should connect the No. 2 ventilation hose while putting on the V-bank cover before finishing by connecting the battery negative terminal using 3.9 Nm torque (40 kgf-cm and 35 in-lbf). The last step includes adding engine coolant while verifying coolant and fuel leakages.
