Throttle Body

The sequence for installing the throttle body with motor body assembly requires starting with threading the No. 4 and No. 5 water by-pass hoses through the throttle body. After installing a new gasket you must fasten the throttle with motor body through 4 bolts by applying torque of 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Connect the throttle motor connector before establishing the connection between the No. 4 and No. 5 water by-pass hoses. Before mounting the air cleaner you must place the cleaner on the throttle body and attach the air cleaner hose which you need to fix in place with 2 bolts at 8.0 Nm torque setting (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). The technician must connect the mass air flow meter connector, fasten the 2 wire harness clamps and link the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose. Secure the cable onto the negative battery terminal while torquing it to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf). The maintenance work requires adding engine coolant while inspecting for any fluid leakage. Shift to the end of the procedure by securing the V-bank cover with 2 nuts torqued to 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf).

Remove it by disconnecting the throttle motor connector and removing the 4 bolts, throttle w/motor body, and gasket.

Drain the engine coolant and remove the V-bank cover by taking off the 2 nuts.

Reconnect water by-pass hoses No.4 and No.5, then install the air cleaner assembly with 2 bolts, torqued to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf).

Disconnect the water by-pass hose, water by-pass hose No. 7, and the throttle position sensor connector.

Add engine coolant and check for any leakage.

Disconnect ventilation hose No. 2, the vacuum hose, and the mass air flow meter connector, then remove the 2 wire harness clamps, loosen the 2 hose clamps, and take out the 2 bolts.

Reconnect the mass air flow meter connector, engage the 2 wire harness clamps, reconnect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose.

Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose, the vacuum hose, and the mass air flow meter connector, then disengage the 2 wire harness clamps, loosen the 2 hose clamps, remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the air cleaner hose.

Connect the mass air flow meter connector, engage the 2 wire harness clamps, and connect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose.

Place a new gasket onto the intake manifold.

Remove the No. 1 engine under cover, drain the engine coolant, and then remove the front wiper motor and link assembly.

Disconnect the water by-pass hose, disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose, disconnect the throttle motor connector, remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and take off the throttle with motor body while also removing the gasket from the intake manifold.

Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, torqued to 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf), add engine coolant, check for engine coolant leakage, and finally install the engine under cover sub-assembly No.1 (for 4WD and Pre-Runner).

Place a new gasket onto the intake manifold, install the throttle w/motor body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and torque to 9 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf).

Disconnect the throttle motor connector and remove the 4 bolts along with the throttle body and gasket.

Disconnect the water by-pass hose, disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose, disconnect the throttle motor connector, remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and then take out the throttle with motor body.

Disconnect the No. 5 and No. 4 water by-pass hoses, the throttle position sensor, and the throttle control motor connector.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least 90 seconds after turning off the ignition.
