2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace an A/C condenser in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: A proper method for removing and replacing the condenser starts with discharging the refrigeration system. Unscrew the bolt connecting the discharge hose sub-assembly to the cooler condenser assembly and detach them before you can extract the O-ring from the sub-assembly which requires vinyl tape to seal the opening. The air conditioning tube assembly requires dismantling by unfastening the bolt then separating it from the cooler condenser assembly before removing its O-ring and covering the opening with vinyl tape. The process requires removal of cooler condenser cushion No.2 by first disassembling the bracket No.1 along with its nut then proceeding to remove four bolts and the nut and cushion No.2. The first step for cooler condenser cushion No.1 includes the removal of four bolts followed by the cushion removal and the cooler condenser core extraction. Begin cooler condenser cushion No.1 installation by applying four bolts which must reach a torque level of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). Install cooler condenser bracket No.1 with the provided nut after securing it to a torque of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). The installation process begins with air conditioning tube assembly vinyl tape removal followed by oil application to a new O-ring and the pipe joint fitting surface that receives the O-ring. Then install the air conditioning tube assembly onto the cooler condenser assembly while torquing the bolt to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). For the discharge hose sub-assembly replace the vinyl tape with compressor oil on an O-ring which should be installed before screwing the hose to the cooler condenser assembly while bolting it to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). Complete the operation by charging in refrigerant and slowly heating the engine while looking for any refrigerant leakages.
